But... What do you do when you're not using your own computer and you don't have access to your bookmarks? What do you do when you can't find a bookmark that you just *know* you saved? What do you do when you have a list of bookmarks that you want to export into a Word document or otherwise share? Internet browsing software does not really address these bookmarking matters, but Furl http://www.furl.net/ does. As the home page will tell you, "Furl is a social book- marking site that makes it easy to save, share, and explore favorite web pages." So, here's how it works. Register for a free account. When you register you have a chance to install a 'bookmarklet' into your browser that makes it easy to save pages to Furl whenever you want to. When you want to save a page you just click on the bookmarklet icon. With topics and keywords assigned you can always When you save a page to your Furl list, a window pops up giving you a chance to describe that bookmark. Give it a name, add topics or subject words, include comments, and mark it as public or private. Later you can use the topics as search terms to locate your bookmarks. You can also indicate whether a specific bookmark will be public or private. If you mark it as public, then you can share that bookmark with others. Furl also has a tool for importing bookmarks from Internet Explorer and Netscape, so you can bring your existing lists into Furl. The easiest way to understand Furl is to try it. Register, install the bookmarklet, and begin saving pages. You will have access to your list wherever you go.
