INFORMATION UPDATE July 2006 Number 75 Welcome to INFORMATION UPDATE, a monthly resource for information seekers and users. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ IN THIS ISSUE ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ => Do It Yourself - DocuTicker - Links to Free Reports => Notes, News and Announcements => Subscribe/Unsubscribe Information ************************************************************ DO IT YOURSELF - DocuTicker - Links to Free Reports ************************************************************ Docuticker http://www.docuticker.com points you toward new reports coming from government agencies, non-governmental agencies (NGOs), think tanks, and other public interest groups. Because of the nature of these sources, the reports tend to be free and contain reliable data. The reports referenced by Docuticker are hand picked and compiled by librarians, so the wheat has been separated from the chaff and you benefit. New reports are posted every day, even holidays. New reports added on July 4, 2006 came from sources such as the Coalition of Journalists for Open Government, Freedom House Europe, and AARP Policy & Research. On July 2-3 the Docuticker team posted reports from The Brookings Institution, the Government Accountability Office, Pacific Research Institute, Hoover Institution, NAACP, National Taxpayers Union, American Physiological Society, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Mathemagenic, The World Bank, Congressional Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Homeland Security and more. As of this writing, the reports topping the list include: *New From the GAO containing testimony on Border Security *Bank for International Settlements 76th Annual Report *State Export Data from the USDA Economic Research Service *Losing Ground: Physician Income, 1995-2003 from the Center for Studying Health System Change *Health Care Spending: What the Future Will Look Like from the National Center for Policy Analysis Hopefully this gives you an idea of the diversity and quality of information referenced at Docuticker. The site also offers searchable archives. Entering "pharmaceutical" in the search box returns links to reports from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu on "Life Sciences Focusing on Security Issues," from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration on National Estimate of Drug-Related Emergency Department Visits, and from the Center for Public Integrity on "Lobbying and the Pharmaceutical Industry," just to name a few. You can also browse report listings by category. Some of the categories are Business and Economics, Legal and Law Enforcement, Health and Healthcare, and Consumer Issues. You can keep up with additions to the Docuticker site by sub- scribing to the weekly ResourceShelf Newsletter for updates. With the daily updates, the searchable archives, and the category listings, it's enough to make a researcher feel like a kid in a candy store. Happy Searching! ************************************************************* Notes, News, and Announcements ************************************************************* Shamel Information Services wishes all Information Update readers a great summer!
