INFORMATION UPDATE May, 2004 Number 50 A Publication of Shamel Information Services http://shamelinfo.com Welcome to INFORMATION UPDATE, the free monthly newsletter for people who need to know. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ IN THIS ISSUE ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ => Do It Yourself - Yahoo Shortcut Searching => Did You Know? - Business Research Books Now Available => Notes, News and Announcements => Subscribe/Unsubscribe Information ************************************************************ DO IT YOURSELF - Yahoo Shortcut Searching ************************************************************ First, I want to put in a plug for an excellent daily news- letter focused on Web searching. It is called SearchDay. To learn more about subscribing to SearchDay, go to: http://searchenginewatch.com/searchday/index.php A recent SearchDay newsletter pointed out the Yahoo search option called Yahoo Shortcut Searching. To use a Yahoo shortcut, you simply add a term to your keyword. So, for instance, to find hotels in Nashville, search the phrase Nashville hotels. To find sports scores, search the team name followed by the word "scores" example: storm scores. These shortcuts are pretty nifty and include shortcuts to encyclopedia articles, flight information, news, package tracking, weather, maps, dictionary definitions and more. For a complete list of Yahoo shortcuts, go to: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/tips/tips-01.html ************************************************************ DID YOU KNOW? - Business Research Books Now Available ************************************************************ Written for business researchers at all levels of experience, the first volumes in the Business Research Solutions Series are now available.
