     DO IT YOURSELF - MEDLINEplus

Health care professionals, scientists, and researchers have
long relied on MEDLINE to locate important publications in 
the medical literature.  The National Library of Medicine
now offers MEDLINEplus for professionals and consumers alike.
Produced by the world's largest medical library, MEDLINEplus
"has extensive information from the National Institutes of 
Health and other trusted sources on over 600 diseases and 
conditions. There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, 
a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, health 
information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription
and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, 
and links to thousands of clinical trials. MEDLINEplus is 
updated daily."  http://medlineplus.gov. There is no adver-
tising on this site, nor does MEDLINEplus endorse any company 
or product. 

The site also includes over 150 interactive tutorials with
sound and pictures.  You can watch them online or print them 
out.  To make them download faster, you can mute the sound 
and simply read the captions.  The tutorials cover diseases 
and conditions, tests and diagnostic procedure, surgery and 
treatment procedures, and health and wellness.

MEDLINEplus is a highly recommended source of authoritative,
objective, and clear health related information.

     DID YOU KNOW? - International Company and Patent 
                      Searching

Many, many business decisions depend upon having good back-
ground information on another company.  Obtaining that kind
of information can be challenging if the company is private
or non-U.S. based.  Sometimes, obtaining company background
information can seem daunting if the company is both non-U.S.
AND private.  There are options for obtaining this type of
information, so do not despair.

In many cases, the secret to success is knowing someone in 
the country who can assist with the search.  There are always
local customs, laws, and practices that will affect the type
of information available and the sources for obtaining it.
Language can also be an issue, as there are some databases 
simply not available in English.  International research
professionals will know the language and the local issues
needed to assist in the search for international company
information.
