At http://www.google.com, click on the Image tab. In the search box you can enter whatever you would like to find a picture of. Above the search box is a link to the Preferences page, where you can set the filter to manage the types of images you retrieve. I have mine set to Moderate filtering, which is the default. Try entering your last name, or last name and first name if your last name is pretty common. You might be surprised at what turns up. I tried a search on the initials of my professional associa- tion. I belong to the Association of Independent Information Professionals - AIIP. A Google image search retrieved four pages of images, mostly the AIIP logo retrieved from various Web sites. Of course there are some "false hits" where aiip is there but in a different context than I was looking for. The fifth image shown is actually from the AIIP Web site, but you have at click on it to see the logo. Clicking on any of the images will show the image in its original context, with a hyperlinked URL leading to the page as it appears today. I can see application for this search strategy in competitive intelligence, since it reveals Web sites which appear to have some affiliation or connection to AIIP. The results of a search such as this will be different from a traditional Internet search and yield different information to the researcher. ************************************************************* Notes, News, and Announcements ************************************************************* >>Buying and Selling eContent, April 13-15, 2003, Scottsdale, AZ.
